Jupiter sits at the northern end of Palm Beach County where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic at the Jupiter Inlet, under the red lighthouse that has stood there since 1860. It is the county's most outdoor-oriented town: beaches where dogs are welcome, kayaking on the river, Riverbend Park, and a boating culture built around the inlet.
The town has grown carefully. Abacoa is a traditional-neighborhood development with a town center, Roger Dean Stadium and its own schools. Jupiter Farms, west of the Turnpike, is large lots and equestrian life. Along the water, Admirals Cove and Jonathan's Landing are among the most exclusive yachting and golf communities in South Florida.
